Thoughts on the NBA Finals
First off, sorry I haven’t posted in months, the iPad I previously used to post did not work for Blogger. I now have a new phone, and will use it to blog from now on.
The NBA Finals are upon us, and it’s a matchup literally nobody saw coming: The Phoenix Suns vs. the Milwaukee Bucks. Personally, I find this kind of matchup to be refreshing, even if some will bemoan the absence of LeBron or the Warriors. This is a battle between two tough, hard-working, small-market teams, neither of which won a championship in decades. The Suns are seeking their first title after 53 seasons, while the Bucks will look to win it for the first time in 50 years. Either way, a long title drought will be over.
I, for one, want the Suns to win. I want to see Chris Paul win a ring. Giannis will be good to go (his status appeared doubtful yesterday), but can the two-time league MVP play effectively on a bum knee? If he fails, the Suns could make short work of this, but an inspirational performance could take the series to six or even seven games. No matter what happens, we should all be thankful that the NBA is giving us something new, a series without superteams or megastars (Paul and Giannis don’t qualify IMO), and without the large markets.
This may not age well if the winner of the Finals goes on to become a dynasty.
